The theology contained in the message above is just the kind of damaging teaching I was talking about earlier. Mortal suffering is attributed to lack of faith on the person's part, as clearly seen in this sentence: "It is our sins and inobedient and lost faith have allowed the spirit of infirmity to fall upon us. "
It is ironic to say that "he (i.e. God) understands all things and knows all the right decisions," and in the same breath, "He will heal you accroding to your faith" as if the only "right decision" God can make is to heal. If only God knows all the right decisions and not us, what makes us so sure that the only "right decision" is to grant healing? I understand that the writer is meaning to encourage, but I cannot agree with the theology and thus am compelled to speak up. Too often the simple solution offered to "explain" sickness and suffering is man's lack of faith. I wonder why. Personally I do not accept simple solutions so easily because God is not a simple person to deal with. And the Bible does give us clues. I once told someone that we are all "waiting to die" ("deng-si"). Sounds too morbid? Hope you can detect some positive motivation from this seemingly pessimistic and defeatist statement.
