Hi there. You did not reveal the circumstances surrounding your depression. Your msg has been here for a while, but how are you now?

I am no professional to assist you in the area of depression, but I hope my note here will at least make you feel cared for by fellow brethren around, at least at Antioch Home page here. It's healthy to ventilate your feelings, brother or sister out there.

Okay, to you out there, all I have to say is that: When things in life take a bad turn, it's normal for us to feel that a dark cloud is enveloping around us!All of us, if we are very honest with ourselves, can testify to the fact that we have at one time or another encountered unhappy happenings in life. It's just one of the prickly thorns in a stalk of rose!We feel the pain ( for whatever unhappy events) because we are pricked. We could not do anything sometimes to avoid/ stop the happenings especially when they are beyond our control! We asked : Aiyah, why huh? Why am I so unfortunate? Who can help me to get out of this state?

Some say : Go by the serenity prayer:Lord, grant me the serenityto accept the things that I can't change and grant me the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know of the difference.

Some say: You have to make a choice: Choose to be happy or sad- it's all your choice for the day.

Some others say: think of those happy things in life. Think of things that can evoke positive feelings or breed optimism.if there is one thing you can do, choose to be positive no matter how hard you struggle to think positively & optimistically in the face of whatever problems.

Some others say : If you think by being negative, you can solve your problems, then by all means. The fact is : Does thinking, worrying, dwelling on unhappy things solve the problems?? Soon, all your energies will be exhausted just by dwelling and wallowing in your problems before any actual step taken to remedy the situation.

Acknowledge, and face up to whatever challenges. Pray to God to grant you the courage. Realistically accept the fact that none of us has a problem-free life.We all have problems at one time or another in our life. It's only normal.

Of course, Some say: if you're a Christian, and believe in God, then GO TO GOD in prayer.

He will have a way for you. Spend time with God,daily communicate with God as you would have with your confidante or loved ones. Fellowship with God first. Pray. Sing hymns. Play gospel, Christian music, read the bible. Attend a care group.Praise the Lord all the more even if you don't find the reason here-and-now to do so. This may uplift your low spirits.

I do not know whether you do find the opportunity to confide in your close friends, but even if you don't, it's still alright to find your pastor, or a counselor to talk with. You know, Samaritans of Singapore does have a 24-hour toll free line : 2212122 or 1800-2214444.At least by talking out your problems, and your feelings associated with your problems will help you feel better.

Hope all these will help. Take good care.
