How can we pray with you...

Please pray for me. My mother was widowed about three years ago and since then she has been seeking pity and wallowing in her sorrow. I have done everything I can to help her - got her involved in a bereavement group, got her back to church, etc. But she still wants me to feel sorry for her and attempts almost daily to make me feel quilty about something or to make me feel bad for her. I am trying so hard to be kind, loving and understanding, and I know God wants her to get on with her life and be happy, but the stress she is putting on me is now almost unbearable. She just will not allow herself to be happy about anything and instead prefers to be a constant "victim." I have not told her how I feel because I do not want to hurt her feelings, but I am to the point that I don't even want to call her anymore. I know this is not a Christian attitude - that I need to show her love. Please pray that I will be strong and understanding and that my mother will some day experience the joy that only God can give her. On that day I will also finally be free from her almost smothering need for attention and pity. Thank you. |
