Oh dear, Choong.
Not speaking in the capacity of any professional around, but I would like to share something here: Many, many people have been in such a situation. Some truly deserve a good reward for the contributions they have been making to their companies but are not getting any. However, Chhong, even if you do truly deserve a reward, and are not getting the reward you think you do deserve, don't feel discouraged. Rewards need not come only in the forms of promotions; increment;or even a pat on the shoulder by your boss.If it is, then we have been programmed in an unhealthy mode of thinking or we have been 'narrow' with our definitions of a reward! Perhaps many of us are brought up to think that we run top-speed in a race only when there is a gold trophy awaiting us ! Oh, no, what kind of shallowness it shows about ourselves!! Is it only fulfilling to work hard or to work well only when there is a reward for you?? Nah, Choong, sometimes, we may need to widen our own narrow minds & our narrow definitions of reward , in order to consider the followings: - Don't you feel very happy in your heart that you're contributing to the wellness of the company as a whole? Don't you feel very happy for yourself that you're making a contribution in the first place? Don't you feel very happy that you know you have the ability to work well enough in order to have made a contribution? Don;t you feel that by working hard and working well, you earn the trust & credibility for yourself, and this is the most important of all? Don't you think that a diligent & good worker will tell alot about himself/herself as much as a lazy & bad worker about himself or herself also??This is also an area of witness for Christ, besides the e-announcement you made to everyone about having CHRISTMAS@STADIUM. It's not wrong to expect a reward, but don't let your love for reward crowd out all other intangible rewards pertaining to doing a good piece, respectable piece of work.It is a misfortune if we work well and contribute only when we are reward-hungry.This is not very admirable. Don't we liken ourselves to the predators: that we run very fast only when we see a prey ahead of us?? It irks me to make such a comparision!
