Of course there will be some wealthy people and merchants just like in any other community but the majority of them are very poor and live in thatched huts in rural villages. It is these villages that are affected. What more the thousands of children are trapped in these village schools which collapsed. They need help. There are no hospitals to treat those injured.
Jesus said, "The poor will always be with you..' Let's give and pray where there is an immediate need. The Red Cross Society is collecting funds for Gujerat Relief.
