Dear CZ,
I have a feeling that your SIL is behaving in such a way becoz of her relationship with your brother. You and your family may not know what is actually happening in their relationship and what are the real causes. Instead on focusing on your SIL, why not pray for your brother too? He might have angered her in some ways previously that went unresolved. So the pent up anger is in within her and she might show it thru throwing tantrums, pulling a long face, etc to your mum or even to your brother. Also, the challenges of bringing up her kids may be another cause for her outburst. She beat them, maybe becoz she is frustrated within herself. Your SIL may also know that she has been rude to your mum, and she behaved in such a way as she thought that your mum is the 'silent' and 'tolerant' type. So, CZ, you should make an effort in trying to reach out to your SIL. Maybe she find it hard to talk to your mum or even confide in her due to 'communication barriers' perhaps? Visit her and try to talk to her and be a help to her. She might find it easier to communicate with you as you both are of the same generation. I believe she will appreciate it, even though she doesn't express it. Human beings are like that, when someone is unkind and you treat them even better, their hearts will be convicted. Ask your SIL about her church, her church activities and her kids. Invite her to visit your house too. I will pray for this matter too. Hope your family situation improve. Keep believing God for doing a work of healing your SIL emotionally and changing your brother too. God's Grace will be with you and your family. Regards, EO
