A book entitled" WHY DO CHRISTIANS BREAK DOWN ?" by WIlliam A Miller. Coverdale House Publishers, Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, Sussex. Some of the passages in this book are: 1. The idea that a Christian should behave in certain ways easily leads to repression of natural human feelings such as fear and anger, the practice of creating for oneself a false "image" and the consequent growth of feelings of guilt, inadequacy and despair. 2. The majority of people who break down seem to manifest certain similar attitudes and behaviour. a. For one reason or another they were generally afraid to express their real feelings. b. They didn't have an opportunity to "talk through" their conflicts and stresses. They were unable to find a "listening ear". c. The people with whom they did talk didn't really hear what they were saying. d. They generally felt that sheer will power could overcome their problem, even though they really didn't understand it. e. They denied reality and moved into their own world which was less painful, less confusing, less demanding and had fewer responsibilities to meet and decisions to make. How your church responds to the above will determine if your church is the problem itself.
