Really depends on your personality.
My personal view is this: work is work. I'm not here to make friends (remember Fann Wong's "she's [Zoe Tay] not my friend, she's only my colleague"?) So I didn't really expect to make good good friends at work. If the people at work turns out to be nice and friendly, good for you! Otherwise, just do your work and don't bother. Be nice, be friendly, but don't be upset if you can't be friends with them. Besides, friendship takes time. It took me 3-4 years to build up friendships in my current company. And even now, I don't go out for lunch with colleagues; I eat alone. (Although eating out with colleagues from time to time would be nice.) So give yourself some time and give your colleagues a chance. It's quite trival to leave a job because you feel lonely at work, particularly in these depressed economic times. But if you're being singled out to be bullied or what, then think seriously abt changing jobs, IF you can't stand up to their nonsense. That's what I meant by it depends on your personality. I don't necessarily mean confronting them; there're other ways of dealing with such people, humour being one of them. But, only you know lah. If you are getting so depressed over what is happening at work, perhaps taking a break is the right thing to do to help yourself recover. Take care.
