I have appreciated many responses from Eveline How- but this last one has to be taken in the right spirit....and not as a passport to be filled with spirits...wine,rum,shandy,whiskey,beer,vodka...and the works! Sometimes our well-meaning comments can be stretched a bit too far. Like the reponse to Eveline's response from someone who has his/her private wine-cellar (??) at home. If I cause any young or new Christian to stumble...then perhaps, I should be very careful about my "liberal" comments. I once stayed for 6 months at a Rehabilitation Centre. One of the guys there who has been "hooked" to alcohol for 20 years- said it all began with social drinking etc...and then he found himself "trapped" Just talk to other residents at the Centre who were hooked to drugs, pills, cough mixture etc....the Book Of Proverbs shares about the lure of alcohol. I lived with an alcoholic father for 25 years! So however well-meaning or well-intentioned..Eveline may be..I beg to differ. I am not a churchian....I came from a staunch Hindu background...and the blood-bought Church of Jesus Christ- His Bride...is my source of teaching, encouragement and communal prayers. Singlish may entertain and make its point but I would pray and ponder before posting my thoughts....you may never know the maturity level of readers who may accept Eveline's comments as a licence to be "free" without being answerable to church leaders.
