Dear Antioch:
I just received this email about "THE ROOM" and immediately began a search for Teary Valley High School and hit on all these testimonial sites about Brian Moore and THE ROOM. While I think the message behind "The Room" email is wonderfully powerful and believe its message transcends age and time... I was disturbed to learn that Brian Moore is being credited for its creation. Brian Moore MAY haved exist, but Brian Moore did not personally experience this nor did he write it. Allow me to explain: My college age children were encouraged to read Joshua Harris' book titled, "I Kissed Dating Goodbye", when they were in the 9th grade. We liked it so well, that we purchased a paperback copy when it first arrived at our Christian book store. This first book of Joshua Harris' was copyrighted in 1996, but was not published until 1997 by Multnomah Books Sisters of Oregon. Chapter 7 of this same book, titled: A Cleansed Past: THE ROOM", pages 103-108, reaccounts a true life dream Joshua Harris had when he was 20 years old while visiting a pastor in Puerto Rico. "The Room" supposedly written by Brian Moore is a word for word plagarism of Joshua Harris' true story. After verifying this for yourself, you may want to amend the authorship credit.
