Hi Very Concern,
I think: just as it's wrong to deny God of the glory due to Him, in the same way, it's wrong and dangerous to ascribe to Him something like the slaining in the Spirit thing. If Christians were so gullible (or bo chap about anything we don't understand), without going to the "more sure word of prophecy" (ie the Bible) for guidance in these matters, can you imagine how easy it'll be for the Anti-Christ to deceive us in the end-days. Especially in the light of Jesus Christ's words: Matthew 7 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Are we not called to be like the Bereans? Acts 17 10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few. So, be cautious: I believe God has spelt out these things clearly in His Word--we are to judge the speakers and preachers in these matters, lest our blood be on our own heads!
