Slain in the Spirit? (God-seeker)

Dear all,
Please understand first that I still believe in miracles and the immerse power of the Holy Spirit. It is just that we need to know what God tells us through the bible. Like I've said and explained in the threads below, some gifts have ceased (thread 832 I think, and some other). The miracles that the early Christians did were very in EVIDENCE. This means that people out in the streets, your neighbour, etc, cannot deny the existence of the miracles at all. Let's look at Acts 4:16: ========================== "What are we going to do with these men?" they asked. "EVERYBODY living in Jerusalem knows they have done an OUTSTANDING miracle, and we CANNOT deny it." (NIV, emphasis added) =========================== This is an example of the miracles done in those times, and what else did they do? They heal the sick, drove out evil- spirits, etc. Even Peter's shadow can cure (Acts 5:15)! Wow! I can't imagine that. Truely Incredible! Let's not deceive ourselves. ("Falling backwards" and those sort of thingys were not even recorded in the bible.) Let's see some examples of what happens when the early Christians were filled with the Spirit: Acts 4:31 --> The Spirit came powerfully onto them and what did they do? Fall backwards? Dance? Nope, they spoke the Word powerfully, meaning they spread the gospel to other people and help converted people. John 10:41 --> John the Baptist was filled with the Spirit from birth (Luke 1:15) yet he did not do any miracles at all. He prepared the Way for the Lord, preaching a message of repentance and urging people to be baptised, confessing their sins publicly and for their sins to be forgiven. etc, you can find they in the bible. 8) =========================== The newpapers would have reported it and people will be talking about it. For even the enemies of Christ cannot deny their existence, which is so unlike today! So I hope you can see this... and please do not mistaken me for not believing in miracles and belittle the power of the Holy Spirit. I still believe in miracles and the power of the Holy Spirit is immerse, but miracles don't come from gifts anymore, for the miraculous gifts like tongues, healing, etc were meant to confirm the unwritten word which at that time were not written yet (Hebrews 2:1-4, Acts 14:3 -> functions of miraculous gifts). Miracles come now through prayers (which anyone can do! Yeah!) and through God's own intervention. c.fella
