Hello All,

Much passion and fire here. The offensive word, in a literal translation, means "10 mix, or 10 races". It is certainly a slur on a culture of people. And OFFENSIVE.

But to all, please, please, read SM heading "....so called chap cheng". The comparision was that the Samaritan's local equivalent is that "cc". I believe that she is not wrong. Try putting oneself back in history. If one calls a Jew, or a Gentile "Samaritan", would the effect not be the same as calling someone in your Singaporean context "cc"? Would it not provoke the same horrendeous reaction?

SM has not called ANYONE ON THE FORUM the "cc" word. It was used exclusively to describe the despised and belittled term "Samaritan". The Bible is very good at calling a spade a spade. If they sin, it is described in graphic detail. for example...most of you will be familiar with Onanism? The "withdrawal method?" Or Jezebel being pushed off a window, and the dogs licked her blood?

I believe the REAL problem is wih SM using Singlish, not the "cc" word. That, is another matter all together.
