Well, I'm a young man myself and I would understand how your son feels, 'cos I do have that feelings from time to time. heehee...
I'm 26 years old, a young working adult and currently living with my parents and my siblings. There are times when I feel I want to go "free" from the constant naggings I receive from my parents. There are two ways I can see presently to settle the issue: 1) Encourage better understanding between parents and the children. In the bible it is written "Obey your parents...". This is the first commandment that came with the promise that "you will live long in the land I will give you...". Oops, getting off-track here...hee But also, it is written elsewhere: (sorry, no time to check, I'm working you see..hee) "Parents, do not exasperate your children". I think this means to cultivate a loving, positive atmosphere. Be friends with your son. Please do not nag too much..."Do this, do that, prepare this, make that, ...etc etc" Us young adult males hate that alot! Try to joke, have fun with him. Bring him out for a fun time once a week. We actually love that, though we wouldn'y say it because of our arrogance I think. 8P 2) Well, this is not encouraged, but if he really insist on going and if there no other way, then impose some basis rules for him that both sides will agree to. He will only be too glad to accept it, if he was allowed to move out. Set rules like: a) Have dinner once a week over the weekends. b) Have contact through the phone twice or three times a week. c) He is to inform you of any up-coming situations...like he's going somewhere for a few days...etc d) No girls can stay overnight! No wild-partyings! It's sinful anyway... =========================== So, this is what I can think of for now... hope it helps! c.fella
