Dear Lost Christian,
If you meet someone whom you really really like, what would you do to get to know that person better? I am sure you will do everything to find out more about him/her. In the same way, if you are head over heals in love with God, you will do the same and when you do so, you will find Him because God promises that whoever seeks him with all of his heart with find Him. You will discover that personal relationship with him that is so deep, so indescribable that you would only want more of Him, as much as you would want say a girlfriend or boyfriend whom you have just fallen in love with. You talk to him and you will find that He so longs to speak to you. People always ask me how and what it means when God speaks to me. Simple. When you call home and your father picks up the phone - do you recognise his voice? I am sure you do by even the first "hello." When we were newborn babies, do we recognise our parents' voice? No, but we grow to recognise it when our parents lovingly coo to us and comfort us. Therefore, in the same way, you are a baby in Christ and be assured that our Father in heaven, whose love for us is deeper than the ocean, far more perfect than our earthly father, desires to nurture an intimate relationship with us. So, first, He has given us his words. Just like how our parents taught us our first words - He has written a whole bible for us - 66 books. If you really desire to know this person, it is up to you to devour every word He has left as a legacy for you. If you need to, go join a bible study group in your church etc. I encourage you to join a new beginners' class. Or go grab a bible and start reading from cover to cover. Then you have His Word - the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Through the bible, you will come to know not just about him but know him because He is the Way and the Truth. You will discover the extent of His love for you and me and fall deeper in love with our Father and with the Lord. Then you have the Witness - the Holy Spirit, whom will prove very valuable as you grow in Christ because He is whom God has deposited with us to train, guide, counsel, empower and teach us. He will open up your eyes to read the gospel till it becomes alive to you. Like I say, if you really hunger for God, you will be filled. It is really something that is within you that no one else can do for you. I remembered when I was a new Christian many years ago, I couldn't have enough of Him. I attended every class, cell, church service, fellowship etc and read everything as much as I can about God - sometimes seven days a week, despite a hectic work schedule. I promise you a journey that you will remember for life. It is your walk with HIm and I pray that you enjoy every minute of it. Just as the new baby overcomes his first cries of trauma and confusion when he is first introduced to the cold world, out of the warm comfort of the mother's womb, you will find comfort, love and familiarity when you throw yourself into the arms of your loving Father. God bless. I pray Father that this lost child will fall in love with you and seek you with all of his heart.
