I was driving towards Lor Ah Soo on Tuesday 7 Dec 1999 when all of a sudden the front wheels of the car started to oscillate left and right, I tried to control the wheels using the steering wheel but to no avail. My wife who was sitted beside me started shouting at me and ask why I was driving this way. In just a split second the car veered sharply towards the centre divider, my whole field of view was now switched to the fencing and trees of the centre divider. At that moment I was convinced that this was the final moment for both of us on this earth.
I don't know what happened next, but suddenly the vehicle turned sharply again to the left. Just then a cement mixer truck came into the second lane, the truck driver saw our vehicle coming towards him and he tried hard to avoid us by swerving to the right. My car hit his front wheel and the front right fender and was dragged for a few metres before both vehicles came to a stop in the 1st lane. I turned to look at my wife who is eight and a half months pregnant and I knew we were still alive. The truck driver opened his door and jumped onto the roof of our vehicle. He opened the door and asked if everything is alright. Both of us were not hurt at all except for some minor scratches. He told us that we must give thanksgiving, I told him that we are Christians. He just said that God must have saved us because our baby could have been in grave danger if there was any injuries or blood loss. My child Nadine was born on 16 December, 9 days later. Nadine stands for "Hope". We thank God for giving us hope and a new lease of life.
