This is an article I received from a missionary pastor in Philippines. I believe his testimony will encourage many Christians who are believing God to answer their prayers.
March 28, 2000 Dear Friend, Without Faith it is impossible to please God. I truly had learnt a valuable lesson about faith last week. I wish to take this opportunity to testify God's goodness, His protection over His people and His building. We had our usual Children's Church on Saturday (March 25, 000) in the afternoon. Halfway through the service there was a fire breaking out about 80 meters away from the church. The whole street was filled with spectators and many families were vacating their furniture. T. Claudio was in chaos. We managed to send the children home through the crowd before the fire came near to our church. After the children had left I encouraged the youths to pray together with me that God will protect His Church and grant us safety. I had realised that it was so easy to trust God and pray when the fire was still a distance away from us but when the fire is just burning my neighbour's house next door, I became confused and had difficulty to trust the voice which I had heard who told me that He will protect His temple. Many people came into the church and offered help to carry out our furniture. At this time I had difficulty to make decision whether to listen to them or believe God will surely stop the fire on time. The voice came again telling me that I need to have faith to believe in those prayers that I had made. Finally, I made up my mind to please God with my faith by not moving any furniture from the church and pray and rebuke the fire as I watched my immediate neighbour's house being burned down. I was so fearful at that time hoping that I had not heard the wrong voice or else CNL and myself will be a laughing stock for those unbelievers outside. My friend, our God is so awesome and good. The firemen came and put out the fire just at the right time saving our church. People are surprised to see that today among the 70 houses that had been burned down, in the midst there still stand His Church - Centre of New Life. I believed through this mishap in T. Claudio Street, people will know that our God is truly the TRUE & LIVING GOD. Amen! Please pray for these fire victims for more people to provide food, clothing and shelters for them. Pray for more financial assistance too. In His Service, Dennis & Daisy Koh
