I decided to take a taxi back home from office two days ago as my wife was busy and so I had to pick up my son from school. As the taxi was travelling along PIE at the junction of BKE (these are the express highways), I noticed the driver of a jeep struggling to keep control of his car in the third lane. There was a motorcycle behind the jeep on the right lane. Suddenly, the jeep skidded and moved from the third lane to the right lane. The motorbike braked to avoid colliding with the jeep but it fell and skidded, with sparks flying, dragging the rider and the pillion (who was an old lady, probably 50 something), for about 20 - 30 metres. My taxi was travelling on the right lane behind the motorbike at about 100km/h. When the motorbike skidded, my taxi driver said, 'Liow! Liow!'(meaning Finish! Finish!). There was no way for him to avoid hitting the motorcyclists who were now on the road injured. The taxi braked hard and just stopped centimetres before hitting the old lady who had fallen. If he had hit her, she would have died on the spot. Then, another motorcyclist who was travelling behind my taxi hit its rear and went under the taxi. He broke some bones on his ribs and was shouthing, 'Help me! Help me!'. But it was a good thing that he went under the taxi because another 2 cars collided one after another behind his motorbike, smashing his bike to pieces. If he had not rolled under the taxi, he would have probably been smashed by the colliding cars. Everyone involved was hurt. The old lady's right side was terribly bloody due to the skid. Only my taxi driver and I were without even a tiny scratch. I give all glory to my Lord and God Jesus Christ for his divine protection over me in this accident and also for being merciful to preserve the lives of all those involved in the accident.
