A1.     Sound (Noun and Verb) [Noun]

phone most frequently "a voice," is translated "sound" in Matt_24:31 (AV marg., "voice"); John_3:8, AV (RV, "voice"); so 1_Cor_14:7 (1st part), 1_Cor_14:8; Rev_1:15; Rev_18:22 (2nd part, RV, "voice"); AV and RV in Rev_9:9 (twice); in Acts_2:6, RV, "(this) sound (was heard)," AV, "(this) was noised abroad."

execheo "to sound forth as a trumpet" or "thunder" (ex, "out," and echeo), is used in 1_Thess_1:8, "sounded forth," Passive Voice, lit., "has been sounded out." In the Sept., Joel_3:14.


B3.     Sound (Noun and Verb) [Verb]

salpizo "to sound a trumpet" (salpinx), occurs in Matt_6:2; 1_Cor_15:52, "the trumpet shall sound;" Rev_8:6-8,10,12,13; Rev_9:1,13; Rev_10:7; Rev_11:15.

B4.     Sound (Noun and Verb) [Verb]

bolizo "to heave the lead" (bolis, "that which is thrown or hurled," akin to ballo, "to throw;" sounding-lead), to take soundings, occurs in Acts_27:28 (twice).

Note: In Luke_1:44, AV, ginomai, "to become," is rendered "sounded" (RV, "came").
