Strolling down a
Musical Memory Lane

Hello my friend. You are welcome to a stroll with me down memory lane. I'm not going to tell you how old I am, but you can no doubt venture a pretty good guess from the kind of music I like.
Hmm. Before we start, just like to point out that all links on this page are MIDI files. Thus the playback quality depends entirely on your sound card's MIDI capability. You'll get good result if you have a wave table sound card (like a Creative AWE64), otherwise they may sound like tunes played out on a toy piano. Just so you know.
Early Years

My earliest memory of music of any kind was from radio. I distinctly remember song like Doggie in the Window, Broken Doll, It's been a Long, Long Time, Knees up Mother Brown, My Prayer, Ramoona, Thanks for the Memory, White Christmas, (just the tune, didn't know the title until when I was older). There were also countless 78 vinyls the name of which I wouldn't know as I was prohibited to even go near them (for GOOD reason !).

Then came the 45 EPs. My 3 maternal uncles were great music fan, and they collected tons of 45s featuring Shadows and Cliff Richard among other things. I grown to be rather fond of them myself. Among my personal favorites are Apache, Atlantis, Batchelor Boy, Constantly, Don't talk to him, Evergreen Tree, Foot Tapper, Geronimo, Guitar Tango, Kon tiki, Midnight, Peace Pipe, Sleepwalk, Theme for a Dream, Theme for Young Lovers, Things I didn't Say, Wonderful Land, Unchained Melody, and Walk Don't Run. I you wish to own a recording of these and other great 50/60 Shadows hit tunes for private enjoyment, waltz over to Amazom.com now and order the CD Shadows are Go!. There is no better anthology I know.

Of course I did not just grow up with Shadows and Cliff alone. There were 3 older (i.e. teenage) girls living next door, and their taste were quite different. I picked up a liking for slow rock and love ballads. For examples : A Summer Place, All I have to do is dream, Blue Velvet, Blue Bayou, Can't help falling (in love with you), Crying, Only the lonely, Pretty Woman, Put your head on my shoulder, Since I don't have you, Sealed With A Kiss, Teenage Idol, Teenager In Love, Travelling Man, The end of the world, Puppy love, What a wonderful world, Where the boys are, and You don't know me.

The Teen Years
