Politics is reputed to be the world's second oldest profession after ... you know what. It's no hold barred and can be dirty and deadly. We have the opportunity to listen to US Senator Tim Philpot, at a dinner talk on "Success in Politics" at 7 p.m. 27th October 1996, at the Amara Hotel, Tanjong Pagar Road.

Senator Philpot, 45, is a remarkable man who holds simultaneously three full-time jobs, in law, politics and evangelistic minitry. He will be winding down his involvement in his law firm, and will complete his second four-year term in 1998 as state senator of Kentucky's 12th senatorial district. He has joined the international staff of CBMC (Christian Business Men's Committee) as international vice-president and in June next year will succeed Roger Erickson as international president.

When he chose not to further his political career, his wife, Sue, was "probably the happiest person". Neither the legal nor the political system, he feels, offers a path to true change, for resolving the problems of mankind. A reason why he wants to concentrate on his true calling - ministry to business and professional men.

CBMC is an international, interdenominational evangelical organisation of Christian business and professional men whose primary purpose is to present Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord to other business and professional men. There are 300 CBMCs across the US, and CBMCs in more than 30 countries.
