1. INTRODUCTION:

   Today, we stand on the threshold of perhaps one of the mightiest hours of prayer by the Body of Christ for this nation. Let us first acknowledge and declare the sovereignty of God over this nation, and bless Him for His grace, mercy and might that has preserved, prospered and protected this nation. Let us sing to the Lord a new song!

2. OPENING PRAYER

   Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise, for HE has done marvelous things. His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to Singapore and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

3. TAKING OUR POSITION! 2 Chronicles 7:14

   Friends, let us individually and together prepare our hearts and minds to stand before the Lord on behalf of this nation. Let us now HUMBLE ourselves, PRAY and SEEK His face and TURN from our wicked ways. As we do this, we stand on His mighty promise to forgive our sins, both individual and national, that healing of our land will follow.

4. PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

   Individual response - Key points to repent and renounce
   

   • All forms of pride, arrogance, selfish ambition and self-righteousness.
   • Tolerance of personal and social vices, immorality, idolatry of man and things.
   • Strife and contention in words and actions, lack of communication and unforgiveness.
   • Personal prejudices - not loving people that are different from us enough.
   • Repent of our neglect of spiritual disciplines such as fasting, prayer and reading God's Word

   Corporate response - Declaration Prayer of Repentance

   As individuals and as a people of God, we firstly repent of all forms of pride , selfish ambition and self~righteousness in ourselves and in this nation. We confess we have tried to build our reputation and identity in our own way. Because of our past and present fears and insecurities, we have allowed false pride, prejudice and injustice to continue in our families and communities. We repent deeply of these. Forgive us also for our greed and covetousness, for seeking to secure and surround ourselves with materialism, false ideals and thinking instead of looking to Your truth as our standard for honest and godly values. We repent of turning to our own arm of flesh and others for help and strength to prosper instead of acknowledging you, God, as the source and provider of our needs. Forgive us , that in our excessive drive to compete to prove ourselves as the best, families have come apart. Forgive us for sacrificing our family life as we pursue economic and personal status.

   Lord, you love the individual and the family. Forgive us for our failure to communicate and show Your lovingkindness and forgiveness to each other in our families and community. By so doing, we have allowed social sins and evils to continue to destroy them because of our sins of neglect, favouritism, lack of compassion and care.

   Lord, we repent of the gambling, alcohol and drug abuse, violence and neglect in families, rebellion and disobedience by children to parents that has resulted. We ask that You would forgive, restore and heal us, our family and nation to Your standards of godliness and righteousness.

   In Jesus name. Amen

5. PRAYER OF RESTORATION

   • Commit ourselves to walk in humility and in God's righteousness for His honor and glory.
   • Pray, as individuals and on behalf of our families and community, that conviction of our sinful ways will cause us to repent and turn to God.
   • Pray for love and forgiveness, respect and obedience to be restored in families.
   • Pray that God's wisdom, justice and mercy will prevail at all levels of leadership in the family, in civic and government leadership.
   • Pray for openness to God's purging and cleansing of individuals hearts and minds

   Corporate response - Declaration Prayer of Restoration

   Almighty God, we come before You today to acknowledge Your sovereign hand of provision and protection upon our government and economy. It is You who has raised up God-fearing and morally upright men and women of vision and insight to lead this nation.

   Where we have failed in our integrity and honesty, we ask You now to restore Your sense of godliness, purity of truth, and love of justice and mercy. Bring these values back at every level - into our family life, community life and our government. We ask for You to deal with us individually and corporately as children and parents, to teach us how to restore and communicate your truths and godly principles in our education and social systems.

   Where there is a failure to communicate clearly, we pray that trust, harmony, forgiveness and godly love will be restored at all levels of relationships - with one another, in families, communities and with our neighbouring countries.

   We pray for God's spirit of generosity to be in the hearts and minds of our people. We will sow blessing by showing concern and care in our giving and supporting those in physical and economic hardship to include our neighbouring countries. As one Body, we commit to walk in obedience to God's commands. We will be careful to lead blameless lives so that our life and testimony will reflect the transforming power of Cod's grace in us.

6. PRAYER OF RELEASE

   • Release God's blessing to provide wisdom and insight.
   • Pray people to be filled with a passion for God, and spiritual hunger and thirst to know Him.
   • Release God's continued provision and protection over our family and nation.

   Corporate response - Declaration Prayer of Release

   As a people of God, we humbly surrender and renew our commitment to the mandate of the Great Commission. We thank You for the calling you have upon this nation. We recognise Your Sovereign Hand over individuals, families and communities that make up this nation. We release Your blessing of godly wisdom and guidance upon all those in leadership and authority in this nation. With thanksgiving, we pray for Your continued watchfulness over those who keep guard over this nation - our government, our military and judicial courts.

   We pray that as we release Your standard of truth, justice and mercy into our government, trust and harmony between individuals and nations will be restored. We release your spirit of generosity into our nation. As we sow financial blessings to those in need, and keep financial integrity, honesty and purity in all our dealings and communication, we believe for You to preserve and prosper this nation.

   We release the power of God's forgiveness, love and grace into every home and community. We pray for the power of His grace and love to be revealed in every relationship individually and corporately so that men, women and children will be healed and restored to His love.

   For those that are seeking for godly truth, we ask that You will send dreams and visions to reveal Your love to them. Draw them to you, 0 Lord. As a people of God, we ask for You to lift up the veil of darkness that blinds men and women from the knowledge of that love. We release the light of Your love to shine in and through Your people so that men and women will be drawn to Your light and be committed to follow You as we follow Christ.

   Standing Before God To Thank And Affirm Our Nation's Call To Be The ANTIOCH OF ASIA:

   Lord, as a people saved by the Blood of the Lamb and called to be a holy priesthood and a royal nation, we affirm as one, our calling and destiny to be a people who will proclaim and support the Great Commission that You have given to us - that we may prophetically declare:

   "May the whole of Singapore to the
   ends of the earth be filled with the
   knowledge of the glory of the Lord
   as the waters cover the sea"

   The trumpet call to every believer to strategically position themselves to pray as watchmen on the wall has sounded!

   The Week to Change our Nation (27 Apr to 1 May 1998) is the realisation of that call which WILL change Singapore forever, and affirm her destiny and call to be an Antioch of Asia.

   The three national events - the Ed Silvoso Seminar, the Singapore Lightup, and the National Charity Walkathon is held under the umbrella of Vision 2001 - a project of SWN.

   The Singapore Lightup itself is a mobilisation of all believers across this nation to humble ourselves and seek God's face for this nation in accordance to 2 Chronicles 7 : 14.
