2nd October 1997 | A life of Eternal Significance. Revelations 14 - Rev. Koo |
Introduction
What's the worst thing that can happen to us - the
absolute worst ? Failing the big test ? Missing the mark ?
A serious illness ? A hurtful, abusive family situation ? A
life of poverty and pain ? Death ? How will we know when the
worst is here ?
Revelation talks continuously about the worst : a world filled with poeple's hatred toward one another and God's judgment on all those who spread violence and pain. Each chapter seems to get worse and worse. The images of judgment and doom just keep piling up !
Is there hope ? Does a life of faithfulness ever get noticed ? Will goodness be remembered ? Tucked away in the middle of this dramatic last book of the Bible are two small but wonderful verses of confidence and courage. Revelations 14: 12 & 13 remind us that God does remember. He keeps track. He is very aware of all those who have continued to believe in Him. And the comforting truth inthe middle of all life's "worst" - even death - is a loving God. He promises to remember, to reward, and to give us rest.
"Let them rest from their hard work. What they
have done goes with them" (Revelations 14: 13).
THE GOOD THINGS WE DO FOLLOW US TO HEAVEN !
Can you believe that ? Your life does matter.
The love, faith and service you share with others do have eternal significance.
THINK ABOUT IT
:
Death, pain and rejection are not the worst that can
happen. The worst is to be unknown and forgotten because of a life
lived without God.
PRAY ABOUT IT
:
When life gets really bad, Lord, remind me of your faithfulness
and your personal commitment to me.
Help me to be confident of your concern and your rewards.
I want my actions to make a difference !
