Dear Dr.Carroll,

Thank you very much for your kind efforts to help people who are badly affected by the major earthquake in Turkey. I have already talked to Mr.Orhan Kabaoglu of Turkish Airlines and Mrs Gladys Chee of the Singapore Turkey Friendship Association and very pleased that they are wholeheartedly willing to help in this matter.

1. According to the information received from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in addition to search and rescue teams, medical supplies, medicine, tents, food stuff and portable hospitals and other every kind of humanitarian aid and medical aid is in the list of primary needs.

2. In order to assist the rescue teams and humanitarian aid groups upon arrival at Istanbul Ataturk International Airport a desk was set up at `Terminal C` of the Airport and started to operate immediately. The team of this Desk is presided by His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Aydemir Erman and a group of three Foreign Affairs officials namely Mr Rifat KOKSAL, Mr.Levent KADIOGLU and Mr. Adem CEKEN .

I forwarded your proposal of sending a team to turkey to our Foreign Ministry in Ankara. Please do let me know about the content of the group ( doctors, nurses, and other volenteers-what kind of assistance they can provide), and the amount of the supply that you intend to take along with.

For food stuff I suggest you contact with Turkish Businessman Association in Singapore, President is Mr. Samet Samedi, he is trying to organise the Turkish Business people in Singapore as well, they are willing to send some supplies also.
