Give us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and to do always those things that are right :  that we who can do no good thing without You may have power to live according to Your holy will; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
Amen.

Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. --Lamentations 2:19

Curahkanlah isi hatimu bagaikan air di hadapan Tuhan. - Ratapan 2: 19

Beyond the losses of this life
    That cause us to despair,
New hope is born within our hearts
Because our God is there. --DJD

    Walau kami alami kegagalan hidup
    yang mengecewakan
Namun harapan baru dilahir dalam hati
    kerana Tuhan ada bersama kami.

      INTERCESSION - SAUDI ARABIA

        Daily Express, 10th July 198, Pg 6
ESTRADA URGED TO SEEK SAUDI PARDON FOR PREACHERS
MANILA :  President Joseph Estrada was urged Thursday by the Roman Catholic leadership here to work for the release of 12 Filipinos detained in Saudi Arabia for allegedly preaching the Christian faith.

House of Representatives member Romeo Candazo, in a separate statement, said the 12, all contract workers, were detained in Riyadh and some could face the death penalty for distributing religious items to fellow Filipinos there.

Quitoro said there were reports that some of the 12 had been tortured to reveal the names of other Filipinos who were practising Christianity.

"To practice one's religious faith is an internationally recognised human right," Candazo said.

      Dear Friends,

Today we take the very unusual step of sending you a message requiring the attention and action of many Christians worldwide.

The following concerns a situation that we have been following for the last two weeks.  We know that the details given are trustworthy. We are thankful that the families and churches of those involved are in favour of this action.

All forms of Christian expression are strictly banned in Saudi Arabia, and foreign Christian workers from less influential countries such as the Philippines and India are often persecuted and harassed without regard for their rights ... Over recent weeks the situation has worsened with 11 expatriate Christians have being picked up in a security sweep.  They are likely undergoing interrogation under considerable mental and physical duress.

Please take whatever action you can on this.

Any co-operation you can give on this matter would be appreciated.

Indonesia's Churches Scrap Midnight Mass Amid Fears
      (25th December 1998, Fri - Daily Express, pg 1 & 2)
JAKARTA :  Jakarta's Roman Catholic Cathedral Thursday scrapped it's midnight Christmas Mass because of security fears after a recent rash of violence tragetting Indonesia's minority Christian populaton, an official at the embassy of the Holy See said.
"With the recent political situation there are many who are afraid to leave home so late at night.  There will be no midnight mass this year, the latest will start at 8pm and last until 10pm" an official at the St Kristoforus Catholic Church in Jelambar, a predominantly ethnic Chinese residential area in West Jakarta said.
He declined to give a reason, but when asked whether the decision not to hold the midnight mass which the church held last year had something to do with security, he replied "Yes".
Some churchgoers said their churches too, including Protestant ones, would hold Christmas Eve services earlier in the evening because of the same concerns.
On November 22 at least 13 Christians were killed by mobs who attacked and burned a church and a gambling hall following unfounded rumours that a mosque had been burned.
The rioting spread and 21 other churches and church schools in the capital were burned or damaged.  The Nov 22 incident was followed by sporadic attacks in outer provinces on both mosques and churches despite a plea by President BJ Habibie to respect "all houses of worship".
Minority ethnic Chinese and Christians have often been the target of violence during times of political and economic crisis in Indonesia.
The chairman of the Christian Protestant's Indonesian Church Community (PGI), Sularso Sopater, was quoted by the Jakarta Post Thursday as saying a recent congress of the Council of World Churches in Harare rated Indonesia among the worst in the world in terms of intolerance and persecution.
The PGI said 516 churches have been attacked in Indonesia in the past 32 years, 415 of them in the past 2 years.  The last figures include 45 churches damaged during the 180 days of President BJ Habibie's term over the past seven months.  In the latest incident against churches, mobs attacked three churches and a Roman Catholic school in Bekasi some 18 km east of here last weekend.

      Pray for Indonesia

      • that there will be peace.
      • pray against violence and disorder, for submission to law and order and authorities - against hatred and prejudices.
      • pray for safety and protection for the innocent, for those who are peaceful, righteous and meek.
      • pray against the devil's deception and fire of hatred and prejudice will be exposed and extinguished but instead the fire of passion for God to burn in the people's hearts, passion for Truth, passion for righteousness and mercy.
      • pray for the Church of Indonesia, for wisdom, love and faith to stand up for Jesus, that though it was a fire of hatred that burned a few churches to the ground, it will be a Spiritual Fire of revival that will spread through the whole of Indonesia and lift Jesus higher
